MANILA - A trade might be consummated while PBA governors are in Singapore starting Wednesday.
Sources told Solar Sports Desk that teams will try to take advantage of the three-day summit to negotiate on the sidelines.
“Dyan madalas nagkakaroon ng trade agreement… kasi ilang araw magkakasama ang governors eh. Ano pa gagawin nila dun?” said well-known player agent Danny Espiritu.
Among those that has been circulating around the PBA community is the possiblitiy of a straight swap between Air 21 Express and the Meralco Bolts.
There are also ongoing talks that the trade might evolve into a 3-team swap probably involving either Barangay Ginebra San Miguel or GlobalPort Batang Pier.
The Mikee Romero franchise might also pursue in Singapore a trade with the Talk n’ Text Tropang Texters for the controversial center Japeth Aguilar.
So far, only San Mig Coffee Mixers Governor Rene Pardo has openly expressed their team’s “no more trade” policy after being involved in a 5-team, 10-player transaction last week.
“Wala na kaming trade (na gagawin), there were reports na may pupunta sa amin na veteran point guard… hindi totoo yun. Ang dami ko nang guard,” stressed Pardo.
The amiable team official, however, added, “But if there is a good offer, syempre pwede naming pag-aralan… but right now, there’s nothing on my table.” [JCA]
