6-team multiple player deal might happen in time for the PBA Commissioner's Cup kick-off next week.

MANILA - All-Star guard Solomon Mercado might find himself playing for Global Port Batang Pier when Commissioner’s Cup kicks off on February 8.

In a development that reached Solar Sports Desk, Mercado is reportedly part of a complex 6-team, multiple player deal that might also involve Japeth Aguilar and Rabeh al-Hussaini.

Multiple sources say it was Meralco that initiated the trade, immediately grabbed by Batang Pier.

The transaction is now in its final phase and is expected to be confirmed in Singapore when the PBA board of governors converge.

Obviously devastated, Mercado told Solar Sports Desk that it was Coach Ryan Gregorio who broke the sad news.

In fact, Mercado asked this writer where he was traded after seeing a tweet about trade hints.

“What’s up bro, where am I gonna end up. I already know it’s me. Coach told me but I don’t know where. Do you?” texted the 28 year old back court star.

If consummated, the trade will definitely overshadow the magnitude of last week’s 5-team, 10-player swap.

“Andaming kasali sa trade na ito. Mabibigla kayo”, said our source. Even Global Port team owner Mikee Romero hinted on the deals they're negotiating by saying: “I want to improve our line-up. At gusto ko ASAP. Ito na yung sinasabi kong build-up dati.”

The Meralco-Global Port trade will also include Talk n’ Text and a few other teams that will shuffle a number of marquee players and shock troopers.
