MANILA - For both John Wilson and Ronjay Buenafe, being involved in trade rumors is part of daily PBA life.
Indeed, the names of both wingmen are now back in the trading mill as reports of revived trade negotiations between the Meralco Bolts and Air 21 Express hit fever pitch.
For the past couple of weeks now, different PBA fora on the internet have been tagging both Buenafe and Wilson.
“Hindi ko alam, pero madalas ko ngang madinig pangalan ko sa trade. Wala pa muna sa isip ko yan, kung mangyayari yan, mangyayari yan,” said Wilson, who has seen a revival of his career after being transferred to Air 21 from Barangay Ginebra San Miguel before the start of the season.
“Meron ba? Ano balita tungkol dun?” asked Buenafe in Twitter direct message to this writer.
The duo was supposedly part of a trade that was aborted the last minute wherein other cagers like Noy Baclao and Jason Ballesteros was supposedly involved.
But a Solar Sports Desk informant bared that both camps have now renewed exploratory talks.
If the deal pushes through, the swap – which might include big men – is expected to take place next week.
“Hindi maitulak ngayon kasi may daalwang dikit na laro sa Miyerkules at Byernes yung Air 21,” said our source, who refused to be named.
Meralco and Air 21 are currently sitting at the lower half of the team standings and the coaching staff of both camps believe that there are still kinks in their rosters.
“May mga kulang pa talaga kami like a back-up point guard and a number 3,” said Meralco team consultant Jong Uichico in a previous interview.
The Bolts won their game Sunday against the Global Port Batang Pier, but needed a hail mary three-pointer at the buzzer from Sunday Salvacion.
Prior to the game, Meralco has dropped their last 3 games.
Air 21 is also on a 2-game losing skid after winning their conference opener versus Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.
