MANILA -- After their successful collegiate career playing for the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles in the UAAP, Ryan Buenafe and JP Erram have decided to throw their hats in this year's PBA draft.
Both players have made themselves available for the November 3 draft, joining fellow Ateneo cagers Greg Slaughter, Nico Salva, Justin Chua and Christopher Sumalinog in the annual event.
Buenafe ended his UAAP career averaging 11.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists in Season 76 with Ateneo. While Erram was able to norm 4.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game in his last playing year.
The PBA has allowed graduating players to sign up for the Rookie Draft, which has been moved from August to November.
Both Buenafe and Erram are on their senior year in Ateneo taking up AB Interdisciplinary Studies.
Buenafe was a key component in the Blue Eagles'five-year reign as UAAP champions. He was adjudged the Finals Most Valuable Player back in Season 73, with Ateneo's sweep over the Far Eastern University Tamaraws.
Erram is a serviceable big man, who is only one of the seven players with a height of 6'7'' or above in the current PBA Draft Pool.
Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is set to pick first in this year's draft, while San Mig Coffee and Rain or Shine will be picking second and third, respectively.
Barako Bull will have the fourth to sixth picks, followed by GlobalPort which selects seventh overall. Alaska, Rain or Shine and San Mig Coffee then round up the first round.
